Happy Sunday Morning Everyone!
Yesterday I finished a project featuring 7 Dots papers. I was inspired by Monica and Sarah-R from the July Round Robin Challenge over at
"Scraps of Elegance"
Com'n join the fun!
I don't normally do grunge layouts but what a perfect way to incorporate a picture of my favorite band "The Black Keys". They're an alternative/rock/blues sounding band. I just couldn't add flowers for these bad boys- It didn't seem appropriate. To my surprise I got a lot of wonderful compliments on this page from my Facebook friends....Thank you ladies!!! I really had fun with this layout.
Here is the photo I started with. I printed it on an 8 1/2" x 11" printer paper.
I added that to the layout by adhering it with "Molding Paste". I went over the photo with molding paste. I know what you're thinking!! Why would you do that???????
I knew I'd be cutting the actual photo in 1/2 and adding the zipper. I wanted that "faded" photo to peek through the zipper. I was also inspired by Finnabair. She always adds awesome elements although I did not have ONE single item from her "Prima" collection. So I had to work with what I had on hand. I've been known to use "Liquid Gold Leaf" in the past, so that's what I decided to use on everything and anything. The zipper was black and silver to start.
The "7 Dots" paper had cool colors- Orange, gold, green.....I sprayed on "Lindy's Stamp Gang" Canna Lily Burnt Orange (can be found at the "Scraps of Elegance" online store) at various locations of the stenciling and dry embossing......I also added "Tim Holtz" Colorwash in lettuce to the stenciling....You can see the little "square" stamp work. I wanted to use squares, circles and diamonds in the background.
In my "Scraps of Elegance" kits I received beautiful "Prima" flowers with some petals that resemble (to me) coral. Of course, I had to go to "Hobby Lobby" and find that fabric. Well, I found ( in the tulle section) this fabric type tulle on a spool and 50% off to boot! I added it to this project and painted it with "Liquid Gold Leaf"....It had silver lurex through it.

Don't forget to stop on by "Scraps of Elegance" forum and join in on the challenges! They're so much fun and you don't have to be a kit club member.
Have a great week!
