Happy Thursday Friends!
Today I'm sharing a mixed media project I created using the gorgeous laces and flowers from:
"Tresors de Luxe"
My inspiration came from the below photo I took of a butterfly while riding bike last May. I remember it was a beautiful day.....peaceful. I remember feeling a little down that day. When I got back to load the bike on my car the butterfly was following me around. It actually landed on the gravel and I was able to get a close-up shot. When I went to leave it landed on the hood of my car. It definitely got my attention and brightened up my day.
Here is the photo untouched:
I thought I was going to use the full 4"x6" photo so I did some photoshop on it.
Well the gravel detail wasn't working well with my project so I cut out three images of the butterfly.
I started by stamping and heat embossing circles to metallic silver tissue paper. I adhered the tissue paper with "Mod Podge"....
I used a "Prima" stencil and added "Golden" molding paste. I used a combination of inks, rubs, and mists to get the color effect.
Tim Holtz - Ink
Viva - Rub
Lindy's Stamp Gang - Mists
I used a fabric stiffener on the lace at the top of the canvas to create a "crown" effect......That lace isn't moving!!!
I added "Tim Holtz" ink to the flowers from "Tresors de Luxe". I also added mist to the large flower from "Tresors de Luxe".....I went over the lace with gold rub from "Viva"....
The top right velvet flower you see was misted with "Lindy's Stamp Gang" and a touch of "Tim Holtz" ink was added to the center. I chose amber colors because the butterfly has a tiny spot of that color at the bottom of it's wings.
Here is a close-up of the micro beads, bead work, misting, inking, stenciling....
Here is another view of the full project:
The following are the laces and flowers I used for this project:
