Today I'm sharing a sketch I did of my scrappy friend Chris Lim's adorable granddaughter.....She nominated me for the 5 day artist challenge a couple of weeks ago. While I was in contact with her I asked if she wouldn't mind me doing a sketch of her granddaughter.......I am still in the process of learning how to sketch and paint and I know there is much more to learn. My favorite thing to sketch is people and portraits....I hope she likes it although I'm still in the practice stage......
Here is a little "how to start" video- It is very hard to see because I start out freehand sketching with a light (skin toned) colored pencil. I used Prismacolor Premier pencils for this sketch. I keep building and building color and blending and blending with paper towels or micro clothes....
As always, I create a collage showing the steps I take before I get to the finished sketch....Chris sent over a few photo's for me to choose and of course they are all beautiful but this one spoke to me!! I love the look on her face....She has her lips puckered a little in the photo so I wanted to create highlights and shadows around her mouth....I printed a photo of her granddaughter below (bottom center) but my computer didn't show all the "color" details so I had to go in at the end and pull up the photo from the computer and add the very last details that were not showing up on the computer printout....
I plan to get a "tall" tripod for my camcorder so I can show you more details on video...I have to set my sketching video's up differently from my scrapbook video's....
Thank you for stopping by!
