INTO THE WOODS - BERRY71BLEU

Happy Hello Artsy Friends!

 

Today I'm sharing my take on this month's fun filled "FOREST" challenge hosted by

  Tusia Lech over at Berry71Bleu....

I used the dark paper from 7 Dots Studio - Nature Walk - Perfect for this month's challenge!

The photo was recently taken by me at the local state park and you can see the sun peeking through the trees.....I added the sticker from 7 Dots Studio "Sunny Skies" among the various embellies!

I wanted to use dark background paper to add depth behind the photo - (as if walking deep into the woods) -  I then wanted to add accents of the colors in the photo - (blues/greens) - I used a variety of brands of mists, paints and inks to this mixed media layout....I was grabbing "similar" colors as in the photo.

BUTTERFLY/FAIRY TAGS FOR RENEABOUQUETS

Today I'm sharing my final project as guest designer for Reneabouquets!  I was able to use that gorgeous wide lace for all three projcts (my first project was earlier this month)!  The lace is very versatile!  I had so much fun playing with the gorgeous products!

I wanted to add color to one of the tags and keep the other plain.   I wanted to make the "Reneabouquets" butterflies the main focus on the tag below. I cut the scalloped edges of the lace and added it to the top and bottom of the tag. 

I cut one of the "Reneabouquets" butterflies in half and tucked the wings behind the top layer of the tag.....

The next tag I added the color "Peacock" by Tim Holtz to the lace.  I diluted it at some areas with water for color variations...I also added "Prima" Color Bloom in Antique Gold.....Both available at Renea's Shop along with the large flower from Prima and the gorgeous fairy sitting on top!  I just happened to find that peach/nude colored die cut in my stash....It matched the fairy's skin tone perfectly.  I guess it pays to hang on to itty bitty scappy goodies!!

I adhered the lace to plain white card stock.....

CANVAS CORP BRANDS - BIRTHDAY CARD/BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Today I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my sister.  I added a little "removable" breast cancer awareness charm using pink hemp rope....

I wanted to create an artsy/mixed media card for her so I used the beautiful butterfly "Glimmer Screen" for this project!

 I used various Tattered Angels products to cover the whole card.....See the below list!

I added the swirl hardware hanger in the top left corner as if the butterfly was delivering the little breast cancer awareness message on it's wing!

 

I took my sister to lunch the other day and gave her the card!  We had an enjoyable day together.....It's a good thing we live close to one another.

RENEA BOUQUETS - GUEST DESIGN TEAM PROJECT!

Today I'm thrilled to be sharing a mixed media canvas as a guest designer for "ReneaBouquets" -(Unique Items with a Beautiful Edge)!!

A BIG thank you to Renea!!!  If you haven't been to Renea's store yet you MUST check out all the gorgeous products!  She has many mixed media products and I decided to take the below project in that direction:

 

I would say this canvas has a modern/Victorian feel to it.  I knew I had to do ONE project with "Prima" Relics and Artifacts by Sandra Evertson!  I have been eyeing up those beauties for a while!

Renea has many gorgeous laces in her store so I decided to order something very wide!  I cut this piece of lace in half  - I wanted the scalloped details facing one another.  The top photo was taken with a "flash"...You see more orange/copper coloring....The below photo shows "natural" lighting....It was a rainy day today so the photo's are not as "bright" as I would have liked.

 

When I think of "Victorian" I always imagine intricate scroll work so I decided to cut out some dies and add the intricate work to the heart using "Mod Podge"   I was going for a "filigree" metal heart look - Below is a photo showing some of the steps I took:

 

I used three colors of the "Tim Holtz" Distress Spray Stain and "Prima" Antique Gold Spray Mist available at the online store!

I sprayed the color "Peacock Feathers" by Tim Holtz  to the wings and various places on the canvas.  One of my all time fave colors!!!

YELLOW BUTTERFLY - BERRY71BLEU

Happy Hello Friends!

Today It's my turn to share my take on this month's fun and beautiful "Yellow" challenge for Berry71Bleu!  I made this mixed media canvas for a friend.  She recently celebrated her birthday and I figured a "Summer" theme canvas would be a perfect gift!

I added the beautiful chipboard supplied to the design team by Blue Fern Studios! Thank you!

I cut the the  intricate scroll-work chipboard piece and off set it below the photo.

I surrounded the photo with the beautiful chipboard butterflies!

I added various soft pastel colors to accent the soft yellow hues!

I used Tattered Angels mists and various brands of water colors.

Today I'm sharing a mixed media, grunge, boy page using lots of Tattered Angels paint/mists and 7Gypsies papers......My intention was not to cover up so much of the paper but I guess I had too much fun playing with the paints!
